  • Federal grant award of $845,485 from the program Teaching American History
  • Three Year Project
    • Start date of October 1, 2002
    • End date of September 30, 2005
  • Serve up to 50 teachers in the ENDLC service area
    • Elementary and Secondary teachers
    • Must be responsible for teaching American History
    • Application process including administrative recommendation
  • Year 1 - Lewis and Clark
  • Year 2 - Native Americans
  • Year 3 - Platte River - Mormon and Oregon Trails
  • Spring Workshops
    • 2 days - sub pay available
    • 1 day - on a Saturday - stipend
  • Summer graduate level class
    • 5-10 days in the summer
      • travel to historic locations included
    • Graduate level course work
      • tuition paid by grant
    • Stipends to be paid to participants
  • Fall workshops
    • 1 day - sub pay available
    • 1 day - on a Saturday - stipend
  • Create and post on-line lessons
  • Assist in the creation of on-line college level course through Wayne State College
  • Materials including books, videos, and teaching aids to be purchased by the grant.
  • All travel expenses paid by the grant
  • Workshops and graduate level courses to be taught by History experts - additional speakers and guests will be included in training
